Sonoma County Heritage Network

The Sonoma County Heritage Network was established in 1980s as a committee of the Sonoma County Historical Society. The purpose of the Network is to keep historical societies, museums, libraries, historians, authors, genealogists, cultural heritage organizations, and individuals and other organizations with an interest in Sonoma County and contiguous area histories in touch with each other, for their mutual benefit. The Chair of the Network is Guy Smith, and the Secretary is Ed Gilardi.

There are no dues and anyone is welcome to join by sending an email to Marie McNaughton at mrmac@sonic.net. Meetings are held quarterly on the second Saturday of January, April, July and October beginning at 10:00am. Each meeting is hosted by a different organization so meeting locations vary.

Heritage Network quarterly meetings in the last few years have included front-of-house and behind-the-scenes tours of the California Indian Museum and Cultural Center, Healdsburg Museum and archives, the restoration yard of the Northern Pacific Railroad Historical Society, the Tomales Regional History Center, Sea Ranch chapel, historical buildings, and archives, Luther Burbank Experiment Farm, Warneke Archives, and the Petaluma Historical Library and Museum.

Members regularly exchange emails about history-related events, news, opportunities, and needs.
