Volunteer

Volunteering with the Sonoma County Historical Society is a meaningful way to support the preservation and celebration of our region’s past. Whether you are passionate about research, events, archives, community outreach, or hands-on preservation, there are many opportunities for every interest and skill level. SCHS volunteers assist with programs, Finding History Day, historical publications, summer events, and ongoing restoration projects such as the Caretaker’s House at Howarth Park.

We also encourage volunteers who want to explore Sonoma County’s history more broadly. Many museums, parks, archives, and cultural heritage organizations throughout the county rely on dedicated volunteers to welcome visitors, lead tours, assist with collections, and support educational programs. If you would like to get involved, the Society is happy to help connect you with organizations that match your interests.

Sharing your time and experience strengthens the entire historical community, and supports ongoing efforts to protect and share Sonoma County’s cultural and historical resources.
