2026 Sonoma County Finding History Day

Finding History Day is the Sonoma County Historical Society’s annual celebration of local history, bringing together dozens of historical societies, museums, archives, libraries, genealogical groups, and cultural organizations from across the county and surrounding region. Held each year on the first Saturday in November at the Veterans Memorial Building in Santa Rosa, the event offers a unique opportunity to explore Sonoma County’s past in one place.

Visitors can browse display tables, speak directly with historians and archivists, learn about research resources, discover historic sites and collections, and attend presentations on a wide range of local history topics. Whether you are researching family history, looking for volunteer opportunities, planning visits to museums and historic sites, or simply curious about Sonoma County’s heritage, Finding History Day offers something for everyone.

Organizations are invited to participate by hosting a display table, presenting a talk, or sponsoring the event. Finding History Day provides an excellent platform to share research, promote programs, connect with new audiences, and collaborate with others working in local history. Information about registration, presentations, and sponsorship opportunities is available below.
