Research
The Sonoma County Historical Society supports historical research by connecting scholars, students, and community members with a wide range of local resources. Through publications, digital collections, and partnerships with museums, libraries, archives, and cultural organizations, the Historical Society helps make Sonoma County’s documentary and material history accessible for study and exploration.
Research opportunities include the Sonoma Historian, the Society’s quarterly journal, along with curated digital resources such as the Heritage Collection Photo Archive, the Sonoma County History & Genealogy Library, the Sonoma County Archives, and the Sonoma County History Index. We also work with historical and cultural organizations and the Sonoma County Historical Records Commission to support the preservation and use of historically significant records.
